A Welcome Visit
Last night we had a very unexpected visitor during our monthly meeting at the station. We had just discussed the recent rescue and were in the process of checking all of our vehicles and boats to ensure their readiness for the next time we’re needed.
This young man and his family are vacationing from Ohio and decided to stop by the station to say hi. He’s the child who was on the runaway unicorn float. We had a good time speaking with the family and learning more about them. Unknown to us, the young man saw his uncle trying to swim to him, but never saw his uncle return to shore. He only knew that his uncle disappeared. Fortunately, his uncle did swim back to shore.
For his bravery, in a very scary situation, he was provided an official OIWR uniform cap.
