Cardiac Transport Off Island
Some may be surprised to learn that a fair number of calls we respond to are not water rescues at all. And some are not even on the island. This afternoon’s call was one example. We were dispatched to help Oak Island Fire Department and Brunswick County EMS with a medical transport of a gentleman suffering a cardiac event. His location down a muddy and narrow road on the mainland side of the old bridge would be challenging for fire and EMS equipment, but was pretty easy for us in 4482, the Ford F150 4×4 that we purchased last year with your generous donations. We are always eager and willing to help our friends in other departments to get the best possible outcome for our patients.
