Float Offshore Near Ocean Crest Pier
We were dispatched to investigate a float that was reported be 300-400 yards offshore. We responded with our surf-launch boat 4491, boat 4490 to Blue Water Point Marina as backup, drone, and substantial crew. Our Chief was on-scene shortly after the call was dispatched and was able to verify the float was flipping in the wind, a sign that nobody was on the float. Further, Caswell Beach had just handled the same call further down the strand and the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol was actively looking for the float to remove it from the water. We notified agencies to the south to be on the lookout for it as well.
