Hazardous Monday Morning
Hazardous Monday morning to you. Today, offshore tropical activity has caused life threatening surf conditions and we request that you to stay out of the ocean due to a HIGH rip current risk. This elevated risk caused the NWS to issue a Rip Current Statement for all local beaches. Surf today will be 2-3 feet with low tide occurring at 11:20 am. This creates a very dangerous situation during peak beach time. We will be at a HIGH risk for rip currents tomorrow as well. We have a Small Craft Advisory for coastal water boating due to 15-25 kt Northeast winds (gusts to 30 kt) and seas of 5-8 ft.
Fishing in 5-8 ft seas is not pleasant and can be treacherous. The Wildlife boat ramp parking area on Fish Factor Road was full this morning, which makes you wonder how many of those boaters were aware of today’s hazardous conditions prior to launching their boats.
