Investigate Marine Animal Activity
Starting early in the morning, we received several calls, messages, photos, and videos of large marine animals active very close to the shore from SE 43rd Street to west of Ocean Crest Pier. We investigated with members on the beach as well as flying our drone. The fin of one large fish was seen in the water, and the drone captured footage of other wildlife activity in the area, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary or particularly dangerous. Erring on the side of caution, we chose to raise the purple flag at the station to indicate the possible presence of dangerous marine life.
