Kayak Flipped at The Point
Earlier today Oak Island Water Rescue, Oak Island Fire Department, and Oak Island Police Department were dispatched to “The Point” for a report of a child in a kayak (with no PFD) that overturned and was being pulled away from shore. Oak Island Police Department arrived on scene and confirmed that the person (actually an adult male) was safely back on shore.
Remember to follow basic boater safety rules when kayaking- Wear a PFD, have a waterproof communication device, don’t paddle alone, use a paddle leash, and have a audible and visual signal device to call for help.
