Kite Surfer in Lockwoods Folly Inlet
A 911 caller reported a kite surfer was down and away from their board and appeared to be drifting out with the tide in Lockwoods Folly Inlet. They were reported to be wearing a wetsuit and life jacket. Oak Island Water Rescue was dispatched without support from Oak Island Fire Department or Oak Island Police Department because they were tending to a structure fire on East Beach Drive and other emergencies on the island. As we were about to leave our station, it was reported the kite surfer had made it successfully back to the shore near The Point and our response was cancelled.
