Male Struggling After Falling Off Longboard
We, along with Oak Island Fire Department, were dispatched the The Point regarding a man that had fallen off a longboard into the cold water. He was reported to be struggling in the water and unable to get back on the board, or stay on the board. We took 4491, our surf-launch boat, from it’s location in the Mardi Gras by the Sea Parade to The Point along with several members driving their personal vehicles to assist. Boat 4490 also responded as stand-by to Blue Water Point Marina.
An off-duty Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol deputy, in his private boat, was able to locate the man and assist him back to shore on the north side of The Point. He was very cold, but not seriously injured. He was evaluated and left in his own vehicle.
