Moderate Risk of Rip Currents Today
Although the surf height is only predicted to be 2’, we are YELLOW today for a Moderate Rip Current Risk. Low tide today will occur at 12:15. Remember that rips are more common a few hours before and after low tide.
The latest information on the recent adult and child rip current drownings in Atlantic Beach is that the 5 year old boy was in knee deep water and caught in a rip current. The 24 year old man tried to swim out and save him. The man was last seen holding the child above his head before they both went face down in the water. The 24 year old male’s father said he was strong swimmer who knew about rip currents.
Tragic.
