Near Drowning Near Oak Island Pier
This afternoon Oak Island Water Rescue, Oak Island Fire Department, Oak Island Police Department, and Brunswick County EMS responded for a possible near drowning/medical emergency on the beach at the Oak Island Island Pier. Medically trained beachgoers stabilized the patient until the arrival of Oak Island Fire Department paramedics. Oak Island Police Department provided crowd control and Brunswick County EMS paramedics assumed patient care upon their arrival. Oak Island Water Rescue provided patient transport off the beach and Brunswick County EMS transported the patient to a local hospital. Once again excellent inter-agency cooperation and great job by the off duty nurses on the beach.
