Patient Transport from The Point
This afternoon at 4:35 PM, we responded the the Kings Lynn Drive side of “The Point” at the far West end of the island with our new 4×4 truck to assist Oak Island Fire Department and Brunswick County EMS with transporting a patient off the strand. Oak Island Police Department also responded to clear traffic and prepare a landing zone for a rescue helicopter at Fire Station #1. At this time we are not sure whether the patient suffered cardiac arrest or drowned, but it has been reported as a near drowning incident.
It’s been a busy week on the Island, and once again, the local public safety agencies functioned as one coordinated team. We are thankful for the bystanders who intervened today to help save a life prior to the arrival of first responders.
We are hoping this gentleman makes a full recovery. More about this story and updates can be found on the WWAY web site.
