Rip Rescue in Fort Fisher
We’ve been talking about it for a few days now. Locally we almost had a rip current drowning (based on media reports and witness statements) at nearby Fort Fisher.
The initial victims were pulled out by the rip current. At least one swimmer attempted a rescue and nearly became a victim.
It is extremely difficult to stand on the beach and watch someone drown, especially if it is a friend or family member. That said, there are many cases where the would be rescuer drowns.
You can read the full story and watch the video on the WWAY web site. In future posts, we will talk about the best actions to take in the event that you see a person caught in a rip current.
