Special Olympics Polar Plunge and OIWR Food Drive
On Saturday, February 29, 2020, Special Olympics hosted a fundraiser and very fun event at Middleton Park that culminated with a Polar Plunge on the beach. We worked with them to promote the event, as well as our food drive, which was going on concurrently. It was a huge success! You donated 2 full truckloads of food that we were able to deliver to the Southport/Oak Island Interchuch Fellowship, and raised a great deal of money for the Special Olympics.
The Polar Plunge was a very fun and COLD event to finish off the day. Our team was on the beach and in the water to assist and plungers that got into trouble. We counted 2 1/2 assists and were happy to help out!
Below is some pictures and the drone footage we shot of the event. The short version of the video is just the Polar Plunge, while the longer version shows our team members assisting several swimmers. The last video is just us messing around (officially practice) with the drone before the Plunge. This was the first annual event of this type and we are very much looking forward to next year!
