Swimmer Off Sellers Street
Just before 5PM,we were dispatched along with Oak Island Fire Department and Oak Island Police Department to the beach near Sellers Street on the east end of the island for a report of a woman swimming very far offshore and getting further away from land. We responded with 2 4×4 trucks, our surf-launch boat, and drone. Enroute, Brunswick Country Central Communications (CCOM) advised us the swimmer was back onshore, but no first responders were on scene and her medical condition was unknown. We arrived quickly and spoke with people on the beach that had witnessed the swimmer coming back to shore on her own and then quickly leaving the beach. They said she did not appear injured and was apparently just out for a swim. We ended the call at that time.
